Depending on what you are looking for there are several different programmers out there. hypertech makes a nice piece if you don't ever plan to do any internal mods to your engine. You will see somewere around 10 to 12 hp gain plus you can change your rev and speed limiter.

Another good way to go is Crane Cames new "Power Tunner"! This is the way to go if you plan to ever do a mild cam upgrade. It has a few different settings for you to work with, and will prevent you from having to go and spend alot of money on a dyno tune.

we keep Hypertech, Crane, and Superchip in stock! Let me know if I can help with anything!!

LS1's don't have "chips". You reprogram the vehicle's pcm by flashing it with either a handheld programmer or tuning software such as HPTuners or EFILive. Do some reading/searching in the pcm diagnostics/tuning section. If you still have questions after that, we'll be happy to help.

IMO all the programmers are a waste of time. What you want is EFI Live or HP Tuners. These allow FULL access to proper tuning. A Dyno should be using something similar which is what you need for a 'proper' tune.

However owning such software is a great idea, espcially with an auto as it will allow you to mess about with shift points, torque managment, lock up and many other things.

If you buy a tuner sooner or later you'll wish you hadn't.

If you have a laptop and the willingness to learn, it's better to buy the software and tune it yourself. It's about the same cost to buy the software as getting a shop to dyno tune it. There's plenty of resources on this board to help you learn how to use the software, plus you wouldn't have to pay for re-tunes every time you change something on the car. My $.02.
