Buying an LS1 this week :)
Well, I got 6900$ from insurance for my Mustang V6 that got totaled (payed 5500$ for it last year) and im going to be looking into an LS1 this week once my insurance company sends me the check. I have a 15,000$ loan already lined up.
Theres a few Trans Ams I been looking at around 60k. What are some things I should check? I know about window motors.. what else should I check.. what common problems?

$15,000 should be enough to buy a 30k miles '01 or '02 Camaro Z-28 with the LS1 engine. And chances are that you wouldn't have to do much other than an oil change for those kind of low miles. Same year and miles Trans Ams with the LS1 seem to cost a little a little more than $15k, though both are practically identical. There could be regional price differences, as well.
Good luck on whatever you get. And there are a lot of knowledgeable guys on this forum who can advise you on what to look out for. You might do a little searching in the archives for concerns similar to yours.

if you get a stick, check the posi in the rear end, they are expensive to fix and go out frequently on M6's, the auto is a bit easier on the rear. check the easy things like air filter to see how dirty it is, this will tell you a lot about the owner and the maintence. the 01-02's already have a ls6 intake, so they will take better to a cam, and some of them came with ls6 blocks. I have one, you have to check the numbers on the block. Just make sure that it is clean and ask if you can talk to the original owner if at a delearship.

prolly normal, oil leaks, any idle issues or misses you hear whilest driving, MODS or indications that mods were done and replaced. Make sure all lights work on center consol ( s.e.s, abs, brake, airbag lights should all come on then shut off) I know everyone knows about it but sometimes i've seen people neglect to notice these, only to notice a few days later. if its a T/A make sure both headlights go up ( headlight motors are kind of expensive) just to name a few off the top of my head!! Goodluck on your search

Well, Instead of spending 330$ a month.. I decided to only spend 172.. If all goes well I'll be picking up a 1998 Z28 tommorow
only thing wrong with it I can already see is.. the fact that it has non-stock tail lights.. very ugly ones

Check Ebay for stock tail lights. You may have to wait a few months to find them for sale, but they won't cost an arm and leg. Otherwise, check your local dealer who either has them in stock, or can get them in a few days.
