from my understanding, the ws6 did get a slightly different exhaust system. I was under the impression that the manifolds were more like shorty headers as explained to me, as well as having a more free flowing less restrictive system from the mani's back.....this was also a separation between the 98-00 models and the 01-02 models i believe FWIW jus my .02

The manifolds are identical.

Read JRP's sticky in the new enthusiasts section.

The only real cat-back difference IMO is if you get a Y2Y optioned cat-back from SLP with the WS6 or SS.

The catback is a little different. The I-pipe is 3 in instead of 2.75, and the muffler and tips are different. The manifolds and Y pipe are the same.

So, the WS6 catback is slightly better than a stock Firebird Formula (for example) catback, but not as good as that SLP catback the SS's could option for?

No Y2Y options for LS1 era WS6 cars. Only SS or Firehawk.

Yep, base SS exhaust = base WS6 exhaust. Both had slightly different (better) catbacks than the base LS1 cars.

Yes. But only if the SS had the optional Y2Y SLP dual/dual system. Otherwise, the SS and WS6 systems are identicle.

Performance between the Formula and basic WS6 should be indestinguishable.
