they were rated 275/325 but the hp is actually around 305 as they were underrated like the ls1 fbodies.

The LT1 needs at least headers to compete or a list of bolt on items...... (not to mention you can't put a lid on an LT1)...

Thats what GM "rated" them(so the Vette owners wouldn't get upset )yet the same motor in the vette was rated 350hp. So the actual rated hp for any LS1 is about 345-350hp, give or take a few

the funny thing is that i used to own a 95 z28 and beat a ls1 t/a. the t/a was my friends car and it just had a lid and was an a4 also it was a 98. but he would beat me down low but top end my car would get him but all i had was a magnaflow muffler, ebay cold air intake, and 3.73 gears.. food for thought. p.s now i own a 01 z28 i like this car alot.

Either one would be a fun and fast car..The lt1 does take a few more mods to catch up but they can be found for very cheap used.

Really? I had no idea...what do the average LT1's dyno at the rear wheels anyway? I hear the average is about 250whp.

I am looking at a 96' formula 6spd with 73k miles, the asking price is...I guess decent 6200...I could probably talk him down maybe.

I'd love to have a Trans Am LS1 though, but they are ridiculously overpriced in my area...and for some reason the formulas seem to be alot cheaper than the T/As (even though the Formula is apparently more rare)

An lt1 would be comparable to a 99-04 gt mustang. A mid-low 14 second car. An ls1 is a mid 13 second car. I'd say the lt1 puts down in the low-mid 200's while the ls1 is in the lower 300's.

Ive seen stock LT1s dyno 250~260rwhp over and over again... a few freaks in the 260~270 range (m6 cars)
