Pulling LS1 out of the TA
I bought a 98 Trans Am that was in an accident, dont cringe just yet, the motor/tranny are still good.
The car was hit on the passenger side and caused the area by the pass exhaust manifolds to be REALLY close. What I intend to do with the car motor/tranny/everything else that is still good is to part out. One big problem....how do I pull the motor out? I dont see any loops or hooks or anything on the motor for me to connect the engine hoist's chains to. I dont want to take off the manifolds and heads and use the head bolts as studs to lift the damn block up.
BTW, if you need anything from the car, let me know.

Here's a video the shows an LS1 engine being removed...
http://www.bowlingss.com/DownLoads/V...20_removal.avi
Best bet is to right click the link and hit "Save Target As." Then select a place to save it, preferably on your Desktop. Hope this helps.

Wow, I didnt know that. I might have a problem with the PCM. That part of the car was smashed and the part of the dash collapsed toward the strut tower.
If you are interested in anything from the car, email me at adili8@wi.rr.com
Also, thanks for the link

Yeah, one of Spike's gearhead shows on Sat/Sun mornings had an LS1 that was making noise. They found a bad main bearing, fixed that, and now are stuffing a whole bunch of goodies onto it. They did show dropping it from the car. It looks waaaay too easy with a lift. =]
