Weird drivetrain, Please help!
Ok im no noob to cars especially f bodys I've owned 6 so far but......... nvr had a prob like this. When I slowly accelerate from a stand still especially when the wheel is turned I hear and feel glunking from like my driveshaft and or rear wtf? I can't quite figure it out but my car has noticeable slowed down and its sounded like hell so i took to a local shop and the guy fed me bs about tightenin up heat shields and **** and now wants to replace my tranny engine and torque arm mounts with polyeuruthene ones,I figure whatever not lost money just wasted time can anyone help me with what this could be? It will also make the feel/noise when shifting to 2nd sometimes

do a tune up if you havent yet.
if the torque arm bushing, or trans bushings were going out, you would feel it. my trans mount went and i replaced it and the drivetrain felt tighter on takeoff and downshifting. the torque arm bushing is still **** though, and i feel the flex from it.

If it's clunking, etc. when you are turning, your torsen differential might be on it's way out. As for it feeling sluggish, do you have a K&N air filter? If so, take your MAF sensor out and buy some electronics cleaner at the auto parts store and clean it out. Be EXTREMELY careful with the tiny wires inside the maf, if you break one you have to buy a new MAF. K&N filters are known for coating the MAF wires with oil.

Do you feel tapping on the accelerator? Hit that switch next to your fog light switch and under the A/C vents..... think its called ILS or something like that....
It keeps the rear from slipping out and makes the car bog down.
Just brainstorming at 2:30am... hope it helps.

I have the same thing going on right now. and it sucks. I have 12,000 miles on the 12 bolt and it is getting worse. Mine is defiantly a clunk when I go around corners. I am so mad at this car right now.

Okay guys, go to GM, get the 8oz of limited slip addative, put it in there. Should solve the clunk around corners. Did you change the fluide and leave this out recently? My 95 did this until I did that. Just a thought.

well i got my car back last night and come to find out from racing and i guess the beating i put on the car i had cracked both my motor mounts through and had small fractures on my tranny mount, the shop put in polyeurethene motor tranny and torque arm mounts and now the clunking is gone and car seels nice and stiff and is running great for once a shop did good lol

well at least they did you right. there are some good mechanics still out there. I have changed fluid in the rear added new GM addiditive and still have the clunk. I have a spare set of motor mounts in my garage that I will be trying next with a new tranny mount.

I have a similar issue, but not totally the same.. If I accelerate while my wheel is turned, there is a TERRIBLE vibriating from the back and the noise is heart stopping.. The entire car sounds like it's tearing itself apart.. I don't hear anything like it unless I accelerate while Im turning. When I say accelerating , I mean putting a little but of the pedal to a little bit of the metal. It only happens if I am getting on it, but I just want to make sure nothing is wrong.. At first I thought it might be because I have 18 in rims on it and they were hitting the tire well, which still might be the case.. Hopefully someone can affirm or deny that claim, and perhaps shed some light onto my dilemma..
