Default 04 GTO with SLP MAF sensor installed.....

Well a friend of mine recently intstalled an SLP 85mm MAF sensor on his LS1gto and now his check engine light is on, he went and had the code read at advance autoparts and it said he is running lean. He also removed the little screen on the MAF too. Now should he have his car get a custom tune to fix this(I thought that would be the solution). He had the code cleared but i told him that maybe he should put his stock MAF back on until he figures out what to do. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

ive heard tuners say its a pain in the *** to tune an slp maf. so i would just put the stock one back on, or put the screen back in and see what it runs like then.

Everyone needs to leave their stock MAF alone. End of story. Period.

You do realize that even though you have an 85mm MAF, it's still "choked" down to 75mm at the intake?

yes, but not for long. the reason i bought the slp maf was because my stock maf was dropped and didnt work after that.

and no my pcm is not tuned for the larger maf. try putting the screen back in.
