Newbie oil question
I am almost positive my 00 z hasnt used syntheitc, but im not 100% because i JUST bought it with 55000 on the clock. I prefer synthetic from prior experience. My question is, wont i now have to use a synthetic blend as opposed to full synthetic? I heard if full synthetic isnt used within the first 1000 miles that switching afterward would cause oil leaks.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I've known people that have switched over at all sorts of high mileages without problems.
If you have a small leak already, sometimes the leak seems to get a little worse, not sure if that's because the synthetic cleans out the gunk a bit or just because it flows better and finds it's way into places (or out of leaks) easier than dino oil.
Either way though, I've personally never heard of it causing any new leaks.

Get German Castrol 0w30 FULL SYNTHETIC oil. You can get it from Autozone, and if you do a search for it on yahoo youll be able to find a few places that sell it online.
Make sure on the back it says "Imported from Germany"
Make sure its the right stuff. The model number on the bottom should start with an M04, M05 or M06.
Thats debatebly the best oil you can buy.

Switching to synthetic will not cause leaks. That was sometimes a problem in the dark primordial ooze of synthetics but is no longer the case.
Synthetics have smaller molecules, which might seep and weep a little bit. But that's not much of a problem and can be easily fixed by certain seal conditioners or by switching back to conventional oils.

I've been back and forth with oils. Between castrol syntec and mobil 1 0w-40 and it hasnt cared either way. But the mobil 1 seems to be better on consumption and it seems to run a little smoother.

I've been very happy using M1 0W40. It's a good choice for an LS1.
