cheap cam (such thing?)
Allright guys this is probably a stupid question, but is there such a thing as a cam better than stock but still mild enough to not require a boatload of supporting mods (ie. heads, valvetrain upgrades). I can only spend $500 or so on parts for what I HOPE can be a proper setup. Is this possible?

CheaTR cam, LS6 Cam, LS1 Hotcam just to name a few.
If your not going to go "all the way"(supporting mods, etc.) Whats the point of doing it at all?
Anyways, the CheaTR cam is a nice cam where you can retain your factory manifolds.

lol, might as well save the cash for when you can afford the supporting things for a real cam. Gains will be minimal and youll probably be annoyed when you wanna change it later.

A cam swap is not something you want to cheap out on or do twice if you can avoid it...
Save up more money and wait...do it right the first time. It can be a lengthy process, and when you're dealing with stuff like that, supporting mods for a cam aren't a want, they are a need...i.e. springs, pushrods, chains, etc.

even if you are able to gather all the necessary parts for under $500, which i wouldnt recommend in the first place, your still going to need a good tune afterwards. Like mentioned before, a cam swap isnt something you want to be "cheap" with.
