I just purchased an 02 SS. The intake says SLP. I just read some threads about the SLPs and what HP they put out. How do I know if I have one? I have the original window sticker. It's MSRPed at like 30.4K
Is there a place I can run the VIN to check??

well, does it say SLP in big white letters? If so than thats the aftermarket SLP Lid, which is a good place to start anyway, but if it was sold to u as stock i would wonder cause thats not stock. I know some SLP SS' came with ths Blackwing lid. If i were u i would post this in the specialty vehicle forum, those guys could probably help u the best.

Yea thats just the Lid, but since you have a 02 you already have a LS6 intake manifold so dont mess with it. The lid which is what says SLP in white letters is the equivalent (sp) to a cold air intake and usually adds around 10 HP

well, u saved about 80 or 90 bucks buy not having to buy the very first mod that most of us do, the lid!

You can call SLP themself and ask em. I think they have someone there that can check for you.

Ya just call them up, they have the vin#'s of all the cars they did.

I called today. It's a base SS. The build is #9074 and was at SLP 7/9/02.
They were real helpful and explained the differences about the base and other models.
Once again, thanks for everyone's help
