Default Ticking after oil change?

I Just did my oil change last night and I put in some fresh Royal Purple
10w-30 with K&N oil filter and 1 qt of lucas syn oil stabilizer. This is a fully synthetic blend. Noticed I can hear the valves a bit more on this oil. Has anyone ever got that? I dont know what oil it had in it before, but smelled like non synthetic. What do you guys think? Is it a problem. It ticks at the rate of a valve opening and closing. "Click, Click, click, click, click, etc."

I love how everyone says the "Royal Poople" takes away the clicking sounds. I guess not this time.

Do a search on Lucas oils on here, I've read some bad stuff about it.

Yeah, I have as well on www.bobistheoilguy.com (I usually put the disclaimer in here about them being a pro import ONLY/anti GM/domestic biased site, but I'm getting sick and tired of having to do this ). The people on there claim that the Lucas stuff is nothing more than "bright stock" and can actually increase oil foaming in high rev situations. IDK how true this is, but it was enough for me to avoid it (along with the hefty $$$).

Are you sure you're not just imagining it?

If I were you i'd switch to the German Castrol 0w-30...It made my engine purr like a kitten.

I'm about to switch to GC with my new cam kit...my valvetrain has always been noisy with RP and I just don't think I trust it anymore.

I use 5- 40 Mobil 1 and my ls1 doesnt tick but it will knock if you automatically put the car under a load after start up, I have to let the thing warm up for atlest 20 min before drivin, gets aggervatin sometimes, I have asked some guys on here about the situation and the have told me that the Ls1 are notorious for this issue.

i just bought my ta about 1500 miles ago i found out that the person before me had put some lucas in it... the motor made no noises but on idle my oil press was good but erratic at idle (just under the 40psi mark and 50 ish above idle) i went straight to autozone to get some more seafoam ( i just did the intake) ran it in the oil about 50 miles and then changed the oil with a k&n oil filter and full syn 5w30. the motor seems too like me a little more and now oil pressure is excellent (just above 40 at idle and 65 ish above that) and does not act erratic DO NOT USE THAT LUCAS CRAP!

Ummm...no. Try thicker than any other 30 weight made and commonly available by a good margin.

Like others have said, that is a pretty thin oil. I run 10W-40 in San Diego
