If it a whinning noise... Check your battery and alternator and your powersteering fluid.. I had this same problem... My battery was discharged and my fuild level was low.. So try that and see what you get... Mine still comes back warming up though but not nearly as much or as bad

It's most likely your idler pully. Does it get louder when it's wet outside? My car used to squeak and it was the idler pully. It's on the front of the motor.

I second the pulley. My car would do that, especially when wet. During my cam install I found that the idler pulley for the A/C system was nearly shot. Have not started car since but should cure the problem. I've had a couple other cars that have had the same problem with either the idler pulley or tensioner pulley being the fix. Just make sure you figure out which pulley it is

Take a really long screwdriver and place the metal end of it near whatever pulley it is you think might be making noise, then stick your ear to the plastic end. You'll be able to VERY quickly figure out where the noise is coming from.

My car does the same problem but only after it has rained or its dewey in the morning. So replacing the belt will fix this?

Take the belt off with the engine off and try spinning the idler pulley. Check for play in all the pulleys on the waterpump, ac compressor, power steering, and alternator. Check for in/out play as well as lateral movement. Any play at all indicates the bearings are shot. Inspect the belt really well too.

Another item to check could be the AIR pump under the driver side headlight....
