Default Ls1=lt1

Ok, I feel retarded for asking this, but here goes.

As far as bolting it up is concerned (to tranny/engine mount locations), the ls1=lt1, right?

LT1 and LS1 share NOTHING except the fact that they are built by GM. Now LT1 and the SBC share a LOT or things. The LS1 however is its own beast.

i don't think so. the LT1 T56 is a different trans than the LS1 T56. the LT1 T56 was built by borg warner and is actually stronger than the LS1 T56, which was built by Tremec. they're two different transmissions. you can't just bolt an LT1 4L60E up to an LS1, so i doubt you can do it with an LS1 either. i don't know if this is fact or not, but i don't think the bellhousings are the same. they're two very different motors and different sizes. they share a lot of the same names (4L60E, T56, 10-bolt), but they're all changed from the LT1 years to the LS1 years just enough to make it a chore to swap things over.

ive always personally been told the tremec was stronger then the borg warner...because of the choice of some of the internals...

it's the other way around. the T56 for the LT1 was built by borg warner and is supposed to be the stronger than the T56 for the LS1 built by tremec, at least that is what the guys over in the manual transmission section told me. i trust them on this one. however, the differences are very minimal and they're both stout transmissions from the factory that are far too rough on the driveline.
