Default LS1 Reliability Proven

I Have seen a few posts in here before about new owners wondering about the reliability of the LS1 and F-Bodies in general, So I thought I would share this with you all. I have an 02WS6 6spd that is my daily driver and my only means of transportation right now and has been for the last year and half. Well in that year and half I have put on nearly 50k from just driving to work and school all the time. Well I am more than impressed with it, the only problem I have had is the alternator and thermostat, and I believe the alternator could have been premature due to PS fluid getting into it when I flushed out my PS system but either way I am not complaining. This car has been as solid as a rock for me. It always got me to where I needed to be and got me there on time and in style!!! But for those wondering about the reliability of an LS1 F-Body, I say its awesome, I would have never guessed it for a performance car, I mean its not a Honda, but I know people with Hondas that have a lot more problems then I do. I realize that it is a vehicle and it could break down on me tomorrow but from the time and use I have on mine and I am more than satisfied.

I just got back from a road trip and averaged over 30mpg with it on the highway, so that there is another big plus to me. It never hurts to have a 350HP v8 that can still get 30mpg. Sorry for making it so long guys but I hope you find it as comforting as I do to know your LS1 is solid and able to give you many trouble-free years of excitement.

I always hear people talking about the crappy build quality of these cars and everything but I mean dang I am pretty impressed. Yeah sure I know the interior may not be as nice or the ride is a little rough and a couple extra squeaks here and there but you cant complain when you have a car with enough power to hang with most cars on the road, last as long as a Honda and still get 30mpg's on the highway, granted I know this may not be true for all of them but you wont here me complaining. And the sad part is i have been too busy driving it to even start modding it yet.

please dont take this the wrong way

my opinion.. the build qualaty is hillarius.. from a-z, bad interior and almost everything on it and in it a realy cheap, maybe whe have diffirent standart's here in europe, look at the fit and finish of euro car like mercedes, bmw. audo and more..

but on the other hand.. the F boddy is a masterpeace

i didn't bougth it for its fit and finish.. i bougth because its loud and brutal in every way, no computer controlled everything.. just oldschool and rough tiresmoking power, v8 noise a stunning look, i love it, and have always loved the american muscle's,

my car has bin a total bitch.. bougth last summer, froma 60year old, non abused car, 98 with 31k mile, still on the orginal tires, it has broke down almopst every time i have started it, passenger window, clutch, spun a bearing, powersteering leaks, and i hafe driven it 700 miles, in 8 months..

but still love it

Bought mine with 80K on the clock and sold it with 135K 2 years later. Only thing i had to replace with stock clutch, window motor, and the rear after breaking it at the track. Other than that no issues whatsoever. 100% satisfied!!

I think you'll find this to be true of almost every small block chevy. Not a LS1, but it's a 3/4 350. my brothers 94 s10 with the 4.3 V6 HO has 372,000 miles, he bought it when he was 16 with 207k, 9 years ago. and damn has he ran that thing hard. I seriously never would have guessed it would make it this far. He would just poor the coal to it and not let go. And knock on wood he's never touch the damn thing. He even feels the 4.3 is one of the best motors. Not the smoothest and most powerful but it gets the job done.

I've seen alot of small blocks reach high miles. And I woudln't have any doubt in my mind the LS1 isn't capeable of high miles. even with alot of abuse

Well all the brands you mentioned above go for almost twice what a new camaro costs. By american standards I think the interiors are fine if you take care of them. The camaro does exactly what it was made to do and it does it more reliably then most of it's compatition. I've seen many 5 and 4.6 mustangs after a few miles (ussually near 100,000) struggle to even run.

i do agree with most you say, but i hafe always feeled like the camaro-s do need more attention than the mustangs.. but then agen the stangs are not as powerfull as the camaros, my friend got a 98GT stang and i got 98Z, and the camaro is just in another class.. the camaros interior is also much better,

i work in a daimler chrysler services, workshop-spare part and more.. the dodge's interior are horrable, the 05+ grand cherokee's dashbord is the cheapest pile of plastic that i have seen,

but i also thnik that latest years american cars have bin gettin alot better in many ways, many ears ago almost every car here where american... than after the 80's they almost disapeart and only american cars where suvs and "sportcars" like stangs.. Fbodys and corvettes, but since like 2003- some interesting cars have bin coming out, like the dodge magnums & chrysler 300c and more,
and the price is just a joke compared to the euro cars, but then agen.. it is a reason for it,

but its difficult to try to make my point here.. whe live at wery wery diffirent place's with diffirent culture, and the gas price here is 8-9$ for the gallon

there are alot of old muscle cars fans here, and latest years peaple have bin inporting more of american cars than usual,

yeahh.. i know my english suck's
