Default Shift Boot

Do I have to unscrew anything to lift up the shift boot or can I just pop it out?

Changed my shifter boot this weekend, very easy, took like five minutes. There's just a plastic retaining ring that holds it in place, but like stated above be easy with it or it will break.

I was just wondering where you can buy the plastic ring for the shift boot?? Mine was broken when i bought it and now it wont even remotely stay in play. I am willing to buy the whole boot if needed.

I'm pretty sure you have to buy the whole boot. That's what I did. See if someone has them used in the classifieds section. I tried buying a new one from the WS6Store and they said that the original maker of the boots that GM outsourced to went out of business.

This might help you out.
Shifter boot and retaining ring.
The boot that I bought didn't come with a new retaining ring though.

Thanks for the info guys. I got the boot clip off with no problem but it seems it was cracked from the previous owner... Hopefully I wont have to take it off again cuz I think it might break then.

dude, pm farmer2 and get you a metal clip. it was by far the best asthetic mod ive done so far. it keeps the shift boot in place when i shift and it dont squeek anymore.
