What's an "RS"?

i own a thirdgen RS, it means Rally Sport its just step up from sports coupe. In the thirdgen its either a V8 or V6 with power windows and locks. Z28 and SS are still better

For the third gens, I don't think any of them got the 350. I thought they all had 305 V8's, but I'm not at all an expert.
There was an RS 1st and 4th gen (LT1 years, not LS1) as well. The 4th gen was a bigger V6 that had ground effects, I think. For the first gen, the only thing I know (or think) it did was hide the head lights. I'm sure it did other stuff too.
I hope they bring back the RS with the 5th gen. "RS/SS" and "RS/Z28" sounds cool.

3rd gen RS's mostly came with a 5.0L 305. An RS is usually just the base model with some stuff on it to make it look a little better. If you look at a 4th gen RS, a good number of them have the factory ground effects, not all of them.

It is a little confusing. I was curious too so did a little research. The RS badge returned to Camaro in 1989 on either V6 or V8 models. Actually, it looks like the RS was the only V8 in 1990(no Z/28) but am not certain. The RS went away with the 4th gen but again returned in 1996 as an appearance package on the V6.
Also, the 350 became available in 1987 in the IROCs.

93-95.5 = 3.4
95.5-02 = 3.8
Any could be RS, which was only ground effects, MAYBE some other insignificant stuff, but mostly just ground effects.

SLP did an RS package on the later 4th gen V6's With the sport appearance package you got rally stripes and 210hp up from the 200 rating. I think it was a cat-back. I have the sales paper from when I bought my SS.

yeah thats what the "Y87" performance package on mine was... the "lower restriction" dual exhaust and I think some better springs or something...
idk who cares, basically an RS is no better than a base model camaro.
