Stupid Question On Changing Oil
I just bought a 2001 Z28 n I was just wondering, can't u just put the car on ramps, let the oil drain out, take off the old oil filter, wait a few minutes to let all the oil drain. I just read on a site, that u have to jack up the car, take the oil plug out n oil filter off, drop the car back down to let all the oil drain, then jack it back up, then put the new oil filter on n the new oil in. Is this really necessary? Cause I never had problems outta' of my LT1 camaro n I always used the ramps.

I think you will be fine leaving it on the ramps. I personally have never "let a car down" to let the oil drain out and then "jack it back up" to put the filter on and plug back in, sounds like a lot of work for maybe a few ounces of oil.

Yeah the ramps are fine, but if I may highjack the thread I only put 1k miles on my car like every two months maybe. Do you guys think I'll be fine with still only changing the oil every 3K miles or do you think I should change it sooner than every 6 months. I personally think it will be ok, just want to see what ya'll have to say about it.
