Default New and need advice

Nice board, i came across while looking into, and more then likly swapping in a 99 or newer ls1 in a 85 porsche 944 5spd.

I am looking for 420 to the wheels with modest mods, which means no n20. the car will be street driven and drag raced every once in awhile.

Here are my questions.

I want 420 hp, but plan on retaining stock heads, maybe 60lb injectors and a cam. but here is the thing, i am a diesle guy and know very little about these engines. Also what tuner would you reccommend to get rid of the emission stuff, some sensors, and input the cam, and injectors as well help me deal with integration. I was thinking EFI live or HPTuners, but have experience with neither.

Thanks
Rick

A cam like i have or a bit larger, 42 punders would be enough, or you can get some GTP 38#'s- they were stock on those cars, and are really easy to tune with. HP tuners is windows based, so if you are doing the tuning it will be a bit easier, and there are a lot of people to ask questions about HPtuners on here.

The car will be a beast when you get done.

With your cam lope? Not something ridiculas but just some lope to let everybody know i mean buisness.

I am going for a beast/sleeper. with i finished weight of around 2500 she should be impressive.

You can tell I have a cam, but it is not going to be shaking the ground till I open the cutout.

at 2500 it should scream

it is just a comp cams grind- I had it before they called it the T2- they sell them from texas speed performance.

The injectors are cream colored and you should be able to pick them up just about anywhere. they end up flowing like 40#'s since we have a bit more pressure in the fuel system. you could go to GM and get them or Racetronics- a sponsor here has them, and you may want to look into their fuel pums as they are the easiest to use with the ls1.

I would also suggest the G5X1 cam it is a 228/232 and under .600 lift
-this would give you good power under the curve for a light car.

good luck with the install. A buddy of mine just put a procharged ls1 in a fox body and also slapped it with the spray. He ended up blowing the motor who would of thought. haha. but now he is going to be going with a nasty ls2 and spray.

Let me knwo how it turns out as I am been thinking about swapping the ls1 into something that not to many peopel have tried yet.
