I personally think that there are more reasons to leave the screen on than to remove it. It was engineered as part of the stock MAF and you will see no performance gains in removing it. Just port and polish your TB and then focus your efforts else-where.

ask your tuner what they reccomend. usually a4 leave it alone, and m6 remove it, but ask your tuner first as it will mess with the idle.

I descreened mine and have no problems. I didn't purposely descreen it though. I damaged it when removing the screen, when I was cleaning the MAF. I really can't tell if there's any performance difference or not. I've heard people saying that you have a tiny bit better topend, but I don't know. My car hasn't been past 100mph since I got it.

I ported and descreened mine and although I haven't run into any problems, no noticeable difference and wished I would have kept it stock.
