Default Rear tires only

Any problems with just purchasing 2 rear tires at a time instead of all four? Not had the car for very long and was wondering if only a rear tire(s) purchase would affect anything?

as long as you are changing both rears at the same time..... if one rear is worn and the other is new it could pose problems for the rear end

Yes. Both rears at the same time. All 4 tires have been rotated at 4000 mile intervals. Just wanting more grip from the rear and not wanting to spend the $$$$ for all four new tires.

That will be fine. What size/brand are you thinking about?

275/40/17 or 315's. Suggestions for tire choices or should I just shop around on tirerack, etc?? Car is an 01 WS6 all stock if it helps.

On these cars, the rears would almost always wear out much faster than the fronts.

Don't run 315s on a stock WS6 wheel

X2 no 315's. The factory wheels are not wide enough. Dont go bigger then a 275 on those. If you want a street tire look at the Goodyear eagle GSD3's there great. If you want a drag radial. Look at either BFG drag radials if you want rock solid performance and dont drive it in ran. If you want an inbetween tire go with Nitto Drag radials, there decent in the rain for a drag radial.

I have had great results with the G-force line of BFG's for DD. they last a good amount of time and hook pretty good.

Nitto drag radials will wear out pretty fast. so if money is a issue i would stay away.

When it came time fo me to replace tires, I could only afford two at a time, I found that the rears were a lot more worn out than the front ones though so they got bought first and I went with a set of Nittos cause they were so awesome back then.

Car is my DD and Sumitomo HTR(?) on it since I have had it. Looking for a better tire! Never race or take to the track.

I went with firehawk wide ovals made by firestone, when i swiched to torq thrust rims 17/9 for the front and 17/11 rear. 275 up front and 285s in the back. they seem to have excelent dry traction but i havent done any diriving in the snow or rain so i dont know about that. they are a directional tire that has kinda mean look to them

Thanks for the help so far! Any other advice on a good all season tire (since this is my DD) would be appreciated. Tread life and handling on these Sumis stinks.

I ordered the Nexen brand on my new wheels on my DD. I read that they have good tread life and are good tires for the price.

Car will handle the best with all 4 tires the same and the same wear. But there is no problem replacing only 2. A lot of people change just the rear for drag radials. Depends on what you want out of the car.

Corner carving, replace all the same. Drag race, front for less wieght (skinnies) Rear for traction. Street somewhere in between.

Yokohoma AS430's wear pretty good and do decent in all weather. I ran them all this winter. And they can be had in 275/40/17's
