Default cam or tires/gears?`

I have a 2002 ss camaro automatic with 100,00 miles on it. Mods are lt's, ory, magnaflow catback, SLP Lid, Ported tb, and tune. I really want a cam, and tires, but I dont know which to get. I was going to get a 224/561ish cam or some MT et streets with 3.73's. But some of you guys with more exp. Which will I be most happy with? help me out please. And 1 more ? is the underdrive pulley really worth it? Thanks

I would personally go with the cam since you have 3.23's and not **** 2.73s and since tires are not that crazy expensive so those could be had probably a month or two after the cam. You wont have fun with the streets unless you have a cam.

I wouldn't recommend anything too sticky with tires or else you'll be wanting a new rear end next... I'd say cam, but be careful because those have a lot of other expenses (timing chain, springs, retainers, etc. etc..)

I swapped gears to 3.73's (also have an A4) and love them except they're richmond and noisey as ****.. My 10 bolt also might not be in ideal shape either..

Go with the cam, it will be more fun than gears.

Ok cam it is, now since I have a auto I know I should get a stall but don't have the money and don't really want one because I don't always want to be in the rpm's. Is this going to make my car run like ****? Oh and what about a pulley

A cam swap will be more expensive than a torque converter.

Stall will not make your car run like **** in low rpm's. And yes, get a pulley.

Peace,
Craig.

You need a stall with the cam.. you don't have to get a huge stall, but i'd say 3000-3600 would be fine for a DD

Oh with an A4 you have to do both at same time or stall first, from what i have heard its not worth it at all, if you go big cam you will have tons of problems

How hard is it to put a stall in yourself any references? The cam I want to get is like a 224/561 on 114lsa could I do the cam first and stall later without messing stuff up, or do they both have to be done at the sasme time to do the tune right?

You need your stall in so it can be tuned too.. that way it can be tuned when to lock up, etc...

i was always told to build from the back forward. so start with chassis and suspension, then rear, trans and motor. whats the point on haveing horse when you cant put it to the ground. a good setup car will make the same 1/4 mile times as the big horse power cars useing less horse power.

Get MT ET Street Radials, gears, and a stall before you get a cam. I know it's tempting to get the HP first but it will be better in the end if you do it this way.

actually you can run a cam with the stock stall, you'll just have annoying things while your driving . . . go to big and it wont run. a 224/224 should be fine, i'll be running my tr230/224 with the stock stall for abit and i've already talked with my tuner about it and he said it'll be fine just don't try and race people lol btw if you get dr's start savin for a new tranny and rear end

a stall is the best bang for buck in the 1/4 on a stock car. but You should have good tires for it too. I DD mine with a 4k, its really not that bad. get a nice and tight 3000 if your concerned.

Don't ask those questions, just look at the sponsors and pick one--->
And look in the sales section for used ones.

Peace,
Craig.

Yeah, definitely stall first along with the tranny cooler. If you don't go to radial with the cam those 3.23 gears should work fine.
