Here's a few threads regarding aftermarket MAF's for you to read up on.

Not a bad idea at all, just make sure your state isn't strict with the emissions.

Sims are usually crap. Your better off gutting the cats and having the rear O2 sensors deleted via a tune.

BTW earl gmpartsdirect has a GM stock replacement for $141.08, not sure if you had found one or not and thats the only sponsor i could think of that carries stock mafs.

GMPartsDirect is not a sponsor, but SDPC that sells GM parts is. - CRAGER

If you have some idle time and a Dremel, then port that MAF. I've done it on all 3 of my Camaro's. I plan to do it to the Z06 i'm buying when my free mod beast '99 Z28 sells. Port that MAF and call it a day.

Call it a bad day with lean mixture codes and a bunch of
ping (I had to do a patch tune on somebody's port job
that they left on a SS, that they sold to someone
unsuspecting, last week). Pop the screen, OK (on an
F-body at least).

Stock MAFs are out there as aftermarket service parts
now, "A1 Cardone" remans I saw for $93 on amazon.com,
so don't get took.

Plugged cats will hinder your cars performance if they're pretty choked like mine were.
When I bought the car I was like, ya it has more power than my old car, but I don't see no 13's in this...
Then I had a back o2 sensor replaced and was told the cats were toast too. Replaced them both with 3" hi-flow cats and wow what a difference

if your cats are clogged dont drive the car or fix the problem asap, you can possibly melt the composite intake manifold
