Default coolant ratio...

Just wondering how many of you guys run straight water in your radiator on your stock or close to stock LS1? I know it depends on the time of year so lets just say summer, and what temperature does it run at?

I run 50/50 water /Dexcool...I don't think it is good to run straight water...coolant has a Lubricating Agent in it I believe.

Never straight water. At least some antifreeze in there to prevent rust.

That why you use distilled water.... If there is nothing to make the rust than you wont get any...

keep in mind that water normally boils around 212 degrees, adding antifreeze raises the boiling point, antifreezes boiling point is 370 degrees....and normally the engines run around 210 water temp, running water only is bad and has no benefits

Straight distilled water cools more efficiently than antifreeze. Water boils at 212F, but the cooling system is under pressure which raises the boiling point much higher than that.

Drop something iron in distilled water and it will rust just the same as tap water. It isn't minerals in regular water that cause rust, it's the oxygen. That's why the technical term for rust is 'oxidation'.
