Question Which cut out to buy?

I bought some LT"s and ORY about a month ago but the car is not as loud as I would want it to when im driving...so im thinking about buying a cut-out, but I am not an expert in cut-out brands or anything so my question is which cut-out will be the best one to buy... dont think I really want an electronic BTW.thanks

Just get a single cutout that installs in the I-pipe. Just make sure you get one that fits. A manual cutout is a manual cutout; a brand-name isn't going to change how one will sound over the other.

If you don't want electric then get w/e cutout, QTP is fine.

If you are going to get a cutout, I would say electric. Personally I would get irrated of having to take it off and on every so often. A plus with electric is if you get a cop saying he has had complaints about loud exhaust, you can push the button and wham..its quiet. No officer it wasn't me.

Like -LS1- said brand name doesn't really matter when it comes to a manual cutout. I bought mine from the jegs website. Was the cheapest one I found

a cutout is a cutout is a cutout when it comes to manual.....i would advise you to spend the little extra and go electric. it really does make a difference. if you decide to go elec., everybody seems to have real good luck with DMH including me. ive seen and heard about some issues with the QTP elec. c/o but its still a good product.

I've had my QTP electric cutout for a year almost. Some have had bad luck, others like myself haven't.

Definitely get an electric cut out. I would get annoyed if I had to manually open and close my cutout. Like others have said it helps when you can press a button and go into stealth mode.

QTP or DMH will work, if I didn't get my QTP so cheap I would have bought a DMH for their warranty

i agree 100 percent you dont know how many times that little button saved me i love it, loud when you want it to be and quiet when you want it to be!

Like the others said, if you're buying a manual cutout, brand names don't really matter that much.

It might be worthwhile to at least consider an electric one simply for the convenience -- they open and close with the push of a button. Personally, I think I get the best overall sound by leaving the cutout about 50 - 60% open -- that way it's very loud but it still has a bit of tone to the sound (otherwise, it's just loud, loud and loud!). If you go this route, I would recommend the DMH based on their warranty. I've had a QTP and it crapped out pretty quickly and they don't offer much of a warranty. Despite being a big name in the cutout business, I was shocked to learn that QTP isn't very good about standing behind their product.

I wonder why so many of you guys have problems with noise? I have mine open all the time. I've capped it 2 times since I've had it, that is it. I understand a cammed car would be crazy loud, but I guess with stock manifolds, it doesn't get too loud.

Cats would cut back on the rasp, or so my understanding is from reading around here. black phoenix, get the cats, then an electric cutout for the loud factor lol.

OP: just get a cutout. I would do electric though, just incase some local law enforcement officers arn't to fond of loud muscle cars lol.

I hear a lot of people saying how they would hate to have to manually open and close it, but it's not that bad at all. I have to cap up my exhaust everytime I get out of the bar on the weekends, and even in my (not drunk, but not 100% sober) state, I can still get it capped upand be on my way in less than a minute. Best of all, it came free with the car (and im sure the previous owner didnt spend more than $30 for it) and muffler man charged me a mere $30 to install it. While it would be nice to be able to open and close it on the fly, I'll take my manual cutout any day for the couple extra hundred bucks it saved me over an electric one.

I agree ^^^ I could remove the cap in under a minute. My cutout cam with a little tool to take off the wingnutts really easy.

X2, I have dual DMH low profile electrics on mine and absolutely love them.. Sounds awesome and just a flick of the switch depending on my mood..

Here's what they sound like from the outside and below from inside the car
