ideal a/f ratio with nitrous?
going to order a bunch of jets so i can up my shot and dial in my a/f ratio perfectly. what should i shoot for. probably go with 150 nitrous jets and adjust the fuel. bigger shot later when i get a tranny.
i have an fjo wideband so i can put it anywhere i want, what should i shoot for? looking for something just a litte on the safe side but dont want to give up any power.
on my last project i saw diferent a/f ratios in diferent gears, is that normal?

Cat3, your not being very safe at all running 28* of timing. You should pull 2* per 50hp. Also your a/f is a bit high as well. Have you checked your plugs, you are probably getting some speckling. I like to see no leaner than 11.8 on 150. Our 250 shot we run 14* and a 10.1 a/f.

Brent...I have heard a lot of diff. opinions on this one and no dobt you are correct I am running ragged. I usually use leaded 116 with a splash of 92 pump, keeps all the bad stuff down, but I think I would benefit more from running more like 100octane RG mix, less timing, and a little fatter. So, will try that out.
I use the predator for timing, and AFR. But most usually tune with Edit, which I hope to do one day, and then I will use the timing tuner for timing pull while on juice.

i plan on using edit also, go with something like a 100-150shot dry wich should put the timng table into an area that i dont normaly see, pull timing there. and then shortly after launch hit it with another 100-150 wet shot. maybe even get a time delay relay so i can set how long till the 2nd stage turns on.

Good info Brent. Most folks see diminishing returns when increasing jetting above 150. They wonder why their car performs about the same on 150 jets and 250 jets. You really need to retard timing and add fuel with bigger shots.
Remember N2O is an oxygenator, not a fuel. It catalyzes the fuel burning process, thus making it possible to burn more fuel. This is what makes the power with N2O, not the N2O itself. In order to make gains as you jet up, you must add enough fuel to burn!

you see, the thing i dont understand about that, is how come if they are adding a ton of N20 and not enough fuel they are not blowing up thier engines? it would seem to me that kind of a mismatch would put you at like 16 or 18:1 and destroy the engine. instead they just dont make any more power.... why is that?

I agree with Brent as well , you also should take into consideration what octane gasoline you are running . You can run a slightly leaner mixture with a higher octane gas , and viceversa .

i dont plan on running any better than 92 octane and tune with edit. i can pull as much timing as needed and like i said before hopefully have it do it automaticaly with edit and a 1st stage dry shot.
i had a blower before, can i tune the same way to the limit of the fuel like i did with the blower? increse the shot and watch for KR, then at that point get better fuel or run a little richer or pull timing. do you really need the better fuel with a bigger shot? if the plugs are gaped right and the timing is right, or is the better fuel there just for insurance? i think i will start a new post with that question

RC fast, the timign can be changed through multiple ways... although the fastest i have found was the Ramchargers Timing computer which works great for me... but LS1 edit as well as the predator work well to but the time it takes is longer.. not to mention i don't like flashing my computer all the time.. all it takes is one time opening the door, loosing laptop power or any one of a few scenarios and your towing your car home to get your ecm reflashed at the dealer... wehat ever works best for you... also to re iterate retarded timing will keep the engine living longer. good luck with your setup...

Parish8 why did you get rid of your 2002? You had a lot of work into that thing with the 6.0 swap, blower, N2O, trans... The spray get so addicting that ya had to do away with the boost?
