Default nitrous/timing & octane questions

Well first of all the car is a LT1 car with heads/cam with all other bolt on and I was just wondering since this car runs on 93 octane only. This car also has a digital 6 that pulls out timing which on the car its a forged bottom end car and he sprays a 200 shot through it. He also pulls out 8-9.2* of timing so far with a wideband to monitor everything. But was told if he was using 100 octane he can probably set it at 5* of timing retard and still spray the 200 shot and be just fine and a bit safer, still make more power as well. Is this true and safe for him to run on this setup or what would you all recommend on this for octane/tuning? How much timing to actually pull on this set up, he already runs this setup with 200 shot and that timing pulled and runs a 11.5-12.3afr depending on the air temp outside and is looking to make more power and be on the safer side.
thanks, Tom

I would say that if you had str8 100 octane on that setup you would be just fine with pulling 5* for a 200 shot instead of the 8*....but plug reading would be #1 for this!

It depends too on what his base timing is. It never hurts to be on the safe side. Do you have someone that knows how to read plugs, and what plugs does he run?

well there is b8efs plugs in there for the 200 shot and he does know how to read plugs as do I but we want to be on the safe side and know how much timing can be pulled. It has a ION tune in it and has had several 200 shots on it with pulling anywhere from 8-9* safely with a good afr. But we want to run 100 octane and put more timing into it and get more bang for the shot.

What kind of power are you expecting by adding 3 degrees?

its just not the adding of power, but could i just eliminate the timing retard box completely and run just 100 octane or would he have to pull timing still and run the 100 octane?

You really need to read the plugs or you might risk the chance of hurting the motor.
