Default nitrous newb question - how big of a shot on stock motor 100rwhp or 100fwhp?

Car: 2002 WS6 M6
Mods: TR224 114 cam, airlid, headers, exhausts and a few bolt ons, spec 3 clutch. (headers and spec 3 clutch are coming in the mail next week hopefully).

I always heard that a 100shot is the highest i should go on a stock motor with stock fuel pump etc.

But heres the real question: are we talking a 100 rear wheel horsepower shot or a 100 flywheel horsepower shot?

I really dont want to go less than a 100 rear wheel horsepower shot (wet system), but whats really recommended?

From my experience to get a 100 HP is going to take over a 100 shot. I have TR224/112 TEA S2 heads, headers, Spec3, and the largest jet in a NOS kit gave me a little over 80 HP. The jet was 100 shot.

I am new to N20 also, I bought a NX wet kit.

My understanding is that 150 shot is "safe"

I have been told by a local tuner that they have seen detonation in the back two cylinders in a 150 wet shot so you are much safer going with a 125 max.

I have read on several posts that 650 fly wheel hp is the max a stock bottom end can take.

MSUC5vette, thanks for the response.

I was told from lots of members on board that a 100 shot should be the way to go to be reliable. I just never knew if they were talking about a 100 shot that makes 100rwhp or 80rwhp as every nitrous brand makes different results really.

Im going with an NX wet kit too with a 100 shot and that should make +100rwhp.

I was told that a 150 shot could be done with a fuel pump upgrade (again just to be reliable) but I think a 100 shot should be more than enough for me.. at least for now

I thought only TNT rated their shot size at the wheels. I "personally" would not run over a 150 shot on a stock pump and not over 175 on stock internals but then again I only have one car to drive

I run about a 135 shot and feel "safe" doing it. Since I just put a nitrous cam in I would suspect that a 100 shot will be over a 100 HP now. Dyno in a few weeks, I will let you all know.

On my old motor, the NX 100 shot put 91 to the rear wheels, gained .~9 & ~9 mph in the quarter. This was 'untuned' (we strapped it down, sprayed it, then pulled the motor ).
