Opinions on ring gap for big shots
It's time to start putting this thing together (been a 6+ month project gathering all the right parts) and I'm down to the point of picking my ring gap.
The basics of the motor are:
Diamond custom nitrous pistons (3.905 bore)
Diamond Pro-Select rings (plasma/plasma)
Stock stroke
alum block
300+ (500 max) TNT direct port.
I've been toying with ring gaps anywhere from .028 to .037 for the top and second ring (and all combinations in between). What are some of the other guys out there running, and what are everybody's recommendations and why?
Thanks!

i'd go for at least .030 end gap. if not a touch more. .033-.036 but thats just me.

i didnt gap the second ring, other than what it allready was. i've not tried the diamond pro-selects though, could be better, could be worse, just be sure that you're sealing the cyllinders well enough. un-fortunately a compression test after break in is the only real way to tell if you got it right or not.

Ring gaps are going to be slightly diffrent for a 300 shot or a 500 shot. If you are going with 300 all the time, .026 on top ring and .028 on the 2nd ring. If you are going with 500 most of the time, you will want .030-.032 on the top and .032-.034 on the second ring. With the bigger ring gap you will have a little more blow by then a standard ring gap. These ring gap recommendations are for more of a race car than a street car. If spraying 500 and using a tighter ring gap you will butt the rings and that is no good. If you have any other questions please feel free to call us.

Thanks Brian. I finsihed gapping the rings today. Went with .028 on the top and .030 on the second ring. Mainly because the motor is going to start with a 300 shot and will likley move up to a 400. I asked for the broad range up to 500 since that's what the DP setup can go up to without major changes. It's unlikely that I'll ever run it that high, but I do want the flexibilty to go to upwards from the 300... just in case
