Default What gears would you run with a 409ci Nitrous setup?

My car will never see the track. My game plan is to spray a 2 stage nitrous setup for my weekend street races. I currently have 3.73's. Do you think I need to go back to 3.42's..? I am planning on being around 500rwhp/500rwtq NA..

I think those are about 26 inches tall. I ran 10.6 with 4.10 at 129 and was at 6800 at the end of the 1/4 on 26 inch et streets. If i switched to the 28 inch hoosier I think i could go 138 top speed in 4th and be somewhere around 9.80 or so. I think with your 26 inch tire and the 3.73 your top speed in 4th would be 141. That is plenty, Or you could get 9mph more out of the 28 inch tire if it will fit on the f body.

Very impressive!!!! Do you spray your car on the street? If so, how much and on what tire? Remember... I am going to be making 500rwhp/500rwtq NA. You have a 346ci and I am sure you are not at 500rwhp yet NA..

AP engieering is building my 408 as we speak and jay at absolute is going to make sure i get the 500 rwhp. Anyway I use the 100 shoot wet on the street and i have 427 at the wheels N/A. I have not raced anybody on the street with the et streets yet , but they will be the tire of choice this summer N/A. The hoosiers will be for track. The tires i have used are the supercar ZO6 tires. No traction with those till 3rd.

With 4.10's I would think you would not get traction till third on the spray. I use to have 4.10's and I could spin thru 2nd easy NA..

I would do the 3.42's in a heartbeat. I've tried several different gears on the street, and would just dominate with the 3.42's.

350 shot in the VERY near future...Going up from there.
You'll never get traction on the street with a steep gear, and by the time you do, you'll be out of gear.

i would also reqamend the 3.42s if you do alot of street racing with N2O use and no track time. ususally the local streets will not ever hook as good as a track of coarse and the 3.42s with spray out of the hole will be an advantage on the start. i found that out on the streets a while back. also, not sure if you do, but if you still have the stock 10 bolt, your axle will last a whole lot longer, hehe.

i'll say go with 3.42,,or 3.23,, and get some 15x8 or 15x10 and nitto'sdr(to get more races) if u don't wanna run et street,, with 315,35,17 u will never hook

3:42's??? Mind as well go by some thongs while you're at it

Vince I wouldn't even bother wasting another PENNY on that 10 bolt. Leave the 3:73's in there till they explode, which will probably be the FIRST time you spray the car and it hooks. Then by a 12 bolt....

Well according to most I will never hook, but I do agree it would be best to put that money toward a 12 bolt. I can always roll into it from a stop and floor it once I get going.. My nitrous only comes on above 3000rpm and at WOT..

dosent matter. even on 28" drags, w/ about 600 rw, you wont hook on the street until the middle of 3rd. i just happen to know.
