Default Average price for nitrous install..?

I have a nitrous outlet plate kit that I want to have installed professionally. I'm running a progressive controller, as well as a timing controller. The timing controller is used...and the wiring is pretty ratty. I got a quote yesterday from my tuner for around 800. It seems high, what do you guys think?

Sounds about right considering they are probably quoting it at like 50-60/hr.

Ok, I guess I'll be into it for about 1600 when it's all said and done. Not bad for 150 extra horsepower I suppose. Thanks.

Stand alone fuel setup or are you pulling it off the rail? Seems like a decent price either way for everything.

Nope, no stand alone cell..just taking it from the rail. I'm just running a heads/cam setup right now..I was told I should be fine with a 150 shot as far as the fuel pump is concerned.

and 1600 for 150hp sounds crazy to me man you could prolly go turbo for that money (if you did everything yourself). i picked up a zex race efi kit in the forums for $200 with a purge and -6 feed line. it did come with a nozzle but you could find a nitrous outlet plate for like 100 bux or so.

Yea, that's what I was thinking initially, but again, it's all used, so the wiring is a mess...I wish I knew more about wiring so I could do it myself.

what's "professionally"? for $800 I'd want them to run all the wiring in the OEM loom, not add more, use an OEM fuse box, not drill any holes to mount the controllers, use bad *** brackets not already provided, clean bottle and feed line install (not just zip-tied to the fuel lines or something lame), etc. i'd say take your time and do it yourself

i say do it yourself.. my 3 hours included making some mounting brackets out of some 2x4 construction joiner thingys and painting them black lol. the wiring is so basic with very little research you could have it figured out no problem. or have your professional do the wiring it shouldnt take more than an hour..

There is no way you can install a complete kit, progressive controller, and timing controller let alone a used one in 3 hours with out it looking like one of those timed engine swap challenges. If it was all new I would quote 9-12 hours.

Thats sounds about right if its all done correctly. Ask to see some of his work. When we used to do installs (tuning only now) we charged by the hour. On each install we also ran everything in loom, soldered everything, made solenoid brackets, hi amp relays, switch panel, fuses, etc.... usually had to pull apart interior for switch panel install. Installing a nitrous system correctly isn't very quick at all but do it right the first time and never have any issues.
I cant even count how many cars we have seen over the years with horrific wiring and or installs and they wonder why they have issues all the time. A few were so bad we tuned down tuning the cars over the quality of the install.

Took way over 3 hrs and definitely more than 8 for me to install myself in a 2010 Camaro 2SS. Nitrous Outlet plate, progressive, LNC2000, bottle opener, heater, fuel hose upgrade, console switches, blow down tube, purge, no holes drilled, used factory wire loom as much as possible.

Always do it yourself. I don't have much respect for people that say "Oh, I had so and so build this or that for me." Where else can the conversation go from there? "So.... is there a warranty?"

It doesn't. I have a career too, but, my point is that you lose out on half of the fun: drinking brews and working on your car late into the nights.

And I like to save money and do it myself(despite the fact that I'm a 'career' man).

So you are saying it takes 13.5 hours to install a kit? Sounds like a heck of a lot of fat built in there.
