Default I want to add Nitrous! but...

Well, I have been over this in the FI area, but with little response. My car is currently making about 550rwhp with a Procharger, cam, and bolt ons. I want to add a little 35 shot of nitrous because lets not kid ourselves, or atleast myself. The GTO is a fricken PIG! I feel like 3rd and 4th gears leave something to be desired with the 3.46 stock gears. And I am thinking that a small shot of nitrous would be a nice little upgrade. I can't change my gears yet, because I am waiting on the Aussies to finish up the 9" center section with the complete kit...should be another 3months or so. I am leaning towards the NOS 5177 kit for the fact that it has dual solenoids, and I plan on building the motor in the future and running a dual stage system.

So, I know I am already at the limits of the stock block, but will it survive on track only use with a 35shot?

Any info you guys can give me on the subject would be appreciated, as I would like to get it installed before I head to the track next Sat if I decide to do it! Also, if you have another kit you would recomend!? If I do it I will get all of the essentials to make it work right, MSD window switch, bottle heater, purge, etc...

I personally believe it will survive just fine as long as the tune is good and you ensure there is ZERO detonation. You may end up running 100 octane unleaded when you spray to ensure this. The #1 cause of shortblock destruction, melted valves, and head gaskets being blown is detonation. If you take steps to ABSOLUTELY keep detonation is check...I believe the shortblock can be pushed quite hard (650-700 rwhp).

Check with Jeremy or whoever does you tune if he thinks you can use a dry kit with your current setup. The 5177 dry kit will add the fuel via the MAF and injectors. You may run into problems going dry. He may suggest wet.

Yeah...I will probably give Jeremy a call tomorrow and see if he thinks it would be worth it. I have no problem with adding 100octane to teh car when I want to use the nitrous at the track!

The cooling effects alone would be well worth it for you

Yeah... I realize this. Does anyone have any idea how many 1/10s I might be able to pick up with just a 35shot on my setup!? I am hoping 3/10s is possible!?

I am assuming that the cooling alone will help also! I am in Florida, so anything helps!

Should I go with a wet shot or dry shot? I am also looking at the Nitrous Outlet kits. I need to order tomorrow so I can get it, install it, and tune it all before I go to the track on Sat!

Dave will hook you up. I think wet is also better in this situation. If you spray a 35 shot I would expect atleast 50-60 at the tires.

If I decide to run a wet kit and put a 35 shot in...Will I be able to get away without tuning for the 35shot? I plan on putting some 104octane in the car before I go to the track. Any htoughts on this!?

Its really hard to say.I would for sure check airfuel and timing.Being supercharged changes everything. It amplifys the 35 shot.

Yeah you may gain alot more than the 35 b/c of the cooling effect. The wet kit seems safer as you dont want to retune and yo may maxout your MAF or injectors.
