Default Not an LS1 but an N20 question

This is my 3.8L V-6. I'd ask somewhere else but there is more knowledge here. The engine is all iron and will have about 10-10.2:1 compression. Will it be a must to run atleast a racegas mix with a 150-200hp of spray or will 91-93 octane be ok? Thanks

i'm sure you already know but youd have a crazy fast car if you had started with an ls1. i think you should use race gas and a timing retard cause that is like a 250-300 on a V8. good luck.

I know I would have but I worked on what I had and I've had too much fun with it to sell it. I've got a tube-chassis car that I will be driving next season anyways so I have a race car. This one is still gonna be my daily driver/weekend racer. I just wasnt sure if I had to run race gas or if i could get by on 93. Thanks for the reply.

I do not care if its a go cart or a lawn mower.I will help you spray it or give you the advice you are looking for anytime.Welcome to the nitrous forum.

Now I do not have alot of experience with the V6.Other than the fact I have sprayed a few stock ones. What is the stock compression? A 200 shot may be pushing it on 93.You could always run a dedicated fuel system with race gas in it to help out.Let me know what stock is and we will go from there. This is deffintly going to come down to the tune up.

Dave,

The stock compression ratio is 9.4:1 and the pistons have a small dish. The pistons I bought are a true flat top and will up it to around 10.2 to 1. Most likely I will stick with a 150 shot BUT if I'm on the border of something special ET wise, I might try the 175-200 HP jets.

Dave, let me know what you are thinking. I'm also going max effort with my V6. Hopefully I can pick up another kit from you!

I honestly think that you can do a 200 shot with a good plug and the right timing on 93 ocatain.Make sure you have enough fuel pump.Do you have a way of tunning or logging the car?

Yep, done it on 92 octane, and true, tune is the key.

I've got some #7 NGK's at the shop and Texas Speed does the tuning on my car. Its getting retuned when I have it back together and I'll definately do some nitrous pulls to see what happens. A larger fuel pump is in the future though. I've run 150hp on the stock pump but it was tripping the FPSS I think. However when it was on, it pulled really hard.

I have HP Tuning as well. I've gone no jet with an NOS Super PowerShot sized solenoid (150ish hp) when I had no tuning, and would break up with NGK TR6's and 100 octane in the tank. I previously only street raced the car. Now I'm kinda hanging that up and going for internet glory. I'll have some logs for the car soon. I may even go to the track tonight.
