10lb bottle filled to 15lbs any problems when warm?
I too one of my bottles today to get filled. Its a 10lb bottle. When I took it in it had frost on it so the guy said it would fill nicely....duh.
So anyways he weighed it I had 4 lbs left and he put 11 more in it . So my question is With 15 lbs of liquid in a 10lb bottle when heated to 1150 psi is there a danger of blowing the safety? I asked the guy who filled it(which he has NEVER done before) If it would be ok? He replied " thats what your blow out valve is for."

I would suggest not handling the bottle too much if in fact it is over filled by 5lbs. One of the guys that works here just told me of a bottle that the disc burst on with only 12lbs. in a 10lb. bottle, and they weren't even using a pump to fill it with.
I would put the bottle some place very cool/cold so that the pressure will not raise at all because if there is in fact that much liquid in there any increase in pressure will make it all have to go somewhere (ie: out of the burst disc).

ok got off the phone with the people that sold me the nitrous. A new guy filled the bottle and since the bottle was frozen over with frost on it. the guy filled it till it stop taking it in. So I'm to empty it down cautiously upside down till bottle weight is around 24 25lbs. Thanks for all the help. You guys are quick!!

Damn your lucky its in the 40's in NC right now!!! That is very dangerous and certainly stupid they need to educate the filler....He could kill himself one day....or worse you! Common practice to ice the bottle, but you should NEVER overfill it....

Yeah it is pretty hard to get 14 lbs. in a 10 lb. bottle unless the bottle is frozen. I know if I freeze a bottle I don't even have to turn my pump on to get 10 lbs in there. It is very dangerous having that much nitrous in a bottle of that size. I would say either purge or better yet hook it up and use 3 lbs. or so. I usually only overfill a few of my customers bottles by 1 lb., and usually only when they are going out to play that night and need the extra squeeze

There was a guy at our track that actually fills his as much as possible and it blew out the last time we were there. He was in the trailer right beside us and it scared the crap out of eveyone standing around..definately would let some out immediately

Overfilling bottles really screws up the head pressure and the pressures consistancy through a run. A lot of N20 racers will actually leave 1 lb. of N20 out of their bottles on purpose.
You should bleed some of that off. It's just dangerous.

get the bomb squad out there to crack the valve handle..then bill the jackass who filled it
Man that is dangerously overserviced
Just tip toe up to the bottle where it sits...and crack the valve slightly.
Do you have a gauge on it? If so just read the pressure....that will determine if you are ok to handle the bottle as you normally would. If you have no idea what the pressure is....just crack it open and let a bunch out. Just be sure to keep a hand on the bottle so it doesnt go flying. Also be aware of where your blowoff is pointing...dont want it 12 inches from your face while doing this.
Get your money back on however much nitrous you end up loosing too.
I remember having my gauge pegged once here in the FLA summer. The purge stopped working because it was over pressured. LOL....kinda tense moments since I had no clue what the pressure was up to...lol.
