Default BANDIT SPRAYS at The Track 1st Time last night!

OK went to the track in my 2001 C5 Corvette, had a leaking right rear tire, so I was hesitant to spray and it was a big part of why my I wasn't going for it all the way that night. I let out air in the leaking tire that I filled to 35 on the way to have 28 lbs. These are Nitto DR's.

Used to run BFG DR's (Which are wayyy better!).

Last time on Nittos ran 1.7's.Usually I lower to 18 psi, but I didn't want to mess with it.

Running High Stall TC, A4, Yank SS4000 Torque Converter/3.42 gears.
Shift point are 6,500, shift extentions on converter about 5,200 rpm's.

There was a 20 MPH Head Wind going right into us all night......

OK to the Track:

1st Run N/A was WEAK because of my 60'
(60's sucked all night)

60' 1.99
ET 7.92
MPH 90.13

1st Nitrous Run

**Had window switch at 4,500 at 6,200. Brake Stalled until 3,000 or so and hit it.

60' 2.04
ET 7.85
MPH 96.07

2nd Nitrous Run

** Lowered window switch to 3,900 and raised to 6,300

60' 1.90
ET 7.50 (I expected better, but see why,,,,the darn 60'!)
MPH 98.38

Look at that MPH!!! and that wasn't even spraying right out of the hole. I wasn't that happy, but my buddy said 98 MPH is fast in the 1/8th.

Not sure if my weak 60's were a result of the nitrous or I just wasn't driving normaly because of the excitment and respect of the nitrous which I never sprayed before at the track...

What do you guys think of those numbers???

Thanks Bandit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

100 shot Dual Nozzle NX Kit.

Previosuly on dyno My A/F was at 11.2 using 150 fuel jets and 100 N20 Jets

Then modified ONE side of Nozzle back to the 100 Fuel Jet. So I am runnign mismatched fuel jets on each side, so I would assume my A/F is now higher than 11.2.

The low ET times are all a result of the 60'. But the MPh looks promising.

Where did the 1/8th MI times in your sig come from if this is first time spraying? Doesnt add up if you ran 7.15 prior, and you only gained .5mph from your previous best?

yeah....98mph in the 1/8th is nothing to sneeze at for a very streetable car like you have and your 60' is hurting your e.t. for sure......auto running 98 in the 1/8th should be running real low 7.xx e.t.s Take that with a grain of salt cause I drive a M6.

OK let me clarify. First running 98+ MPH in the 1/8th will be running 6's for sure with any type of decent 60' time. Again it is very easy to see why I ran what I ran......... 60'. When you see a 98.30 MPH you know the potential the car has, becasue MPH is all based on HP.

Now the 60' has a HUGE impact on your final time as anyone knows who races. Runnign a 7.50 at 98 MPH on a 1.90 60' isn't too shabby, especially since I didn't spray it out of the hole or through shifts.

Also last night at 11:30 pm in Texas it was humid and about 75 degrees, so it wasn't a great air night at all and there was a strong 20 MPH Head Wind. My buddy ran 2-3 tenths slower than he normally does in his Vette. He ran a best that night of 7.75 at 91 MPH with a 1.70 60'.

I have always had a monster of a car N/A and ran sick times based on my not as impressive dyno numbers. I was running 380 RWHP and ripped a 7.15 on two seperate occasions.

The 7.15 (which I have the time slip on) was a personal best and it was all on motor using BFG Drag Radials when it was cold out and a Big part of it was because on those runs, I was ripping a 1.58 60'.

Take that same 1.58 60' and insert that 60' number into the run I pulled last night and I would have easily been in the 6's. Remeber I ran 7.50 with a 1.90 60'.

I wasn't posting this to debate how fast my car is because there are many quicker. I was just happy with the MPH and wanted some feedback on what I can do to change things or just general comments..

Again, I was just testing out the waters.

Thanks for the coments and feedback

For a "kind" of comparison, when my Z was stock with Nittos and a 100 shot, here was the numbers (my car dynoed only 343 stock/ 440 Nitrous):

60' 1.88
1/8 7.62 MPH 97.92
1/4 11.58 MPH 125.12

The temp that day was high 70's and about 85% humidity on the west coast of Florida. I had 2 other runs with similar times (within a few tenths slower) and a one higher MPH at 125.76 in the 1/4.

I would have thought your car, with the work done to it and the A4 tranny, would have been better. Your 60' is terrible for an auto with a stall. Try some new tires and get that 60' where it need to be!!! 1.8's or less!

Glad things "mechanically" went well. Always a little scary spraying a car on the track for the first time... I don't care who you are.

98 int the 1/8 with that 60 is good, was it spinning at all? I think you have a 10.xx car once you get that 60'er back in the 1.5xs. Congrats, it's only going to keep getting quicker, it takes time to sort a new setup out.

Here's mine on a dual stage 125rwhp shot:

1.531 60', 7.064 @ 100.62 in the 1/8 and 11.04 @ 126 in 1/4
and
1.801 60', 7.529 @ 97.70 in the 1/8 and 11.57 @ 122.49 in 1/4
so, the 60 makes a difference for sure.

All on BFGs.

Thanks Mike and Robert. I guess 98 MPH isn't a 6 second car automatically.

Also I am on a stock tranny, so I can't spray right out of the hole (or I choose not to last night, plus my rear tire was leaking as I said so I was a little nervous about racing ***** out).

I always get 1.7X 60's even on the Nittos...............I just made a few runs and that is where I ended up.

I was just use to running low 7's N/A all the time (7.2, 7.3, 7.4) with my BFG DR's, so I thought with nitrous a 6 will be easy, BUT I also changed my tires to Nittos because the BFG's last about 2K miles and they are bald, but they hook better.

Oh and I dynoed NA 395 rwhp/385 rwtq and on the spray 480 rwhp/479rwtq.

My car is pretty fast NA usually. I pulled a bit of timing out down from 26 or 28 (can't remeber) down to NOW 22 degrees, just to be safe so my NA will suffer a bit.

I will try again!

Thanks Guys!

On the run I posted was a 125hp hit, I also dyno'ed 480 and 505 on a 135hp hit. Never have got a chance to really get the max ET from my car, but am very, very certain it's a 10.xx'er, so is yours, no problem.

I was there and really impressed. His car has a 6.9X in it for sure. He sprayed after the 60' timer and should trap over 100.

He did not spin and babied it out of the whole. When we get it sorted out I see a mid to high 10 at around 130!

You could hear the exhaust get wicked when he sprayed. Fun night cant wait until Ennis opens up!

Yes I am going to lower the window. I am on stock tranny, my tire was leaking , and it was my first time to spray. All those factor made me error on the side of caution.

As Scott above said (who was right behind me in line for the same lane and watched my run) I babied it out of the hole, but I wa scootin.

I hate to buy a new tranny as it is expensive as &^%*&% and I just dropped over $5K on an engine etc. , but the Tranny is gonna go for sure, it is just a matter of when.

Thanks

Bandit
