I'm wanting to mount my filter about 12" away from the bottle. I'm trying not to put too much under the hood.

yeah all year, Either way the pressure is the same at the bottle end or noid end. So it shouldn't make a difference where you put it.

the benifit of putting it next to the noid would be that, when you change-fill your bottle and the line just sits there any dirt that might get in there will be caught. just my .02

putting it 12in from the bottle with another line would also work and keep the bay clean

I guess I should have explained it better. Mine NX filter came with a 7 inch line that is attached to the bottle. So its not EXACTLY attached to the bottle. but inline at the bottle end.

Right by the bottle using the 7" line supplied. No trouble after 2+ years. Here's a quick pic:

The best place is at the noid. The reson being, any particulate after your filter wiil still get to the noid. Lines can have debri that can loosen up and get in noid at anytime, also everytime you disconnect and reconnect a fitting you are potenialy leaving a small metal burr behind, especially with aluiminum fittings. However, i do understand the reasoning for wanting the filter at bottle area. My suggestion would be to also run a screen filtered fitting at the noid for ultimate protection, I do.

All NX solenoids have a screen filter made in. So I alwasy put the filter back at the bottle.
