Default stock plugs and small shot question...

I'm hoping to get my Dynotune 150-wet kit installed tomorrow on my dialy driver Z. I have headers and an ORY that will be going on within the next month, and it'll get plugged then.

I will be initially jetting @ 100, and I guess the question is, a test shot (and one or two more...) on the stock plugs.... bad idea? What problems am I looking at? possible detonation or just SES/misfires?

Thanks for your time

Stock plugs being platinum? If so the N20 will melt the discs off the plugs. If it does yes the end result will be misfiring and the need for new plugs. It's easier and safer to just change plugs first.

Not to be an ***, but:
$12.00 and 45 minutes of your time
or
30 sec. dyno = $5k and a whole lotta time

I changed to TR6's before my kit was even installed and my car ran better than ever. I even pulled 4 more hp on a hotter day than with the stock plugs or the TR55's n/a, on a colder day.

Here's an example I use often. My buddy has an '03 Z06 and runs a 100rwhp dry shot with stock plugs, stock timing, stock injectors, stock fuel pump and tune. he runs a fastest so far of 11.48. He has had no problems and still has the stock plugs in place. With that said, because of the extended tip and narrow ground strap, these can in fact become a glowing red hot blow torch. Which can result in the tip melting and pieces getting into cylinder and scoring walls, or even worse melting a hole in piston. for me this possibility is the reason I switched my plugs out right away on my lastest car. Your choice.

How far can assumption run unchecked? No one said anything about track passes or a dyno pull.... I ASKED ABOUT A TEST. I just want to get the kit installed and verify that it is functional... That's why I mentioned a 100 HP jetting..... Like I said, headers are going on within the month (they are sitting in the next room) and it will be a shitload easier to swap plugs then...

Well, sorry man, just trying to give ya some real world insight, on far you can actually go with stock plugs, then a rebutal for info for those who may then think it's ok to just run stock plugs.

well, you have a 50/50 chance, if it works, good deal, if not, don't say you weren't warned.
All I can say is best of luck and I hope nothing happens. But I, personally would rather be safe than sorry. Like I said, 45 min and $12.

I read aboout 40 pages of this forum last night.... this figure does not correlate with the users feedback here..... not even close. A one in two chance of severe engine damage when testing a 100HP shot for system functionality??....
