I've got a Question for Rookie too!
What tires do you recommend would be best for my car coming from Les Schwab? I'm overdue for tires and am going for a full set, what would be the best for a daily driver, (rain, sleet, snow) tire?
We've also got something of yours in the garage...contact Ellis for that

Whatcha doin now Dougie? I'll be over @ Dons Saturday if you need more help.
And I love my Toyos Steph. I have a set of the 275/17s on the front of the TA & they are better in every way than the GoodYear F1s. Schwab usually makes pretty good deals on them too. Oh, and for those that don't know, Toyo & Nitto are the same comapny.....

I am running Sumitomo HTR's all around on my car and have to say, for the 160 treadwear rating they have, they have lasted me a decent amount and still have tons of tread left. I put them on in August of '04 and they are still going strong.....of course that was less then 10k ago, but I just don't drive much.
FWIW, the only reason I went with them was because when I bought my current rims, the rears came with these tires, brand new, already mounted and balanced......so I bought matching ones for the front. They are also extremely inexpensive ($107 for the 315's & $88 for the 275's) which didn't suck either. But I figured I would only get 5-10k MAX outta them. I had a set of "sticky/performance" Dunlops back in the day (late 80's/early 90's) on my '87 IROC and they barely made 7k before going bald. So I have to say I am impressed with these compared to some other tires I have gone thru. My stock F1's on my '00 WS6 lasted about 25k before giving up, but that was partly my fault for not rotating them or keeping up with the alignment. Another set I got good wear out of but they were hard as rocks were the Goodyear Eagle HP Ultra Plus just for something else to think about. They run about $200 each though.
Not trying to discourage anyone from Josh's recommendations, just offering my experience as well.

Yes, I have the T1-Ss on the TA. Sorry! Not sure about straight line traction since they are only on the front, but they corner like a biatch! Quieter than the F1s too. My car is laid up for a while....wanna try em Ellis/Steph?

Sense we're on the subject of tires, I need to get wider tires on the rear of my car and I was wondering if there are any issues with running 315s in the rear?

Though I have heard that tires like the Goodyear GS-D3's run wider then others (like mine) so it might depend on what brand/model you go with too.

The Toyo T1-Ss actually are a little bit wider than GY F1s Ellis. They have a recessed lip for the tire rim to fit into to protect the rim from curbs, and then go straight down to the road from there. (is that understandable?)
As for 315s, I ran GS-D3s on my stock rims and they rubbed on the inside of the fender well (you need to beat a bump flat with a hammer). And they hit the bump stops on some cars like Rott was saying.
On my 11" ZR1s, my 315 Nittos the hit the edge of the fener wells in hard corners because of the back spaicng I chose. The other rims would rub on the bump stops. Since my car is slammed, I needed to keep them. I actually have Z28 bump stops because they are softer & don't bang when I hit bumps.

Hey Mark.....what backspacing do your 11's have? I have the 56/50 (front/rear) setup on my car. I wanna go with the GS-D3's when it is time to replace mine, but I am not all that keen on beating the crap outta my fenderwells........

This is the worst hijack I have ever seen. I need Josh to shot a couple of pic's of the blue car for my show board. It seems my camera sucks the big one. Either that or I don't know how to use it!!! And actually Mark you could help. I need to mount the gauge pod but am not sure were to drill the holes.
