Default Where to get a helmet?

I cant remember where you guys told me to get a helmet from. I kinda want to get a full faced one. Also, what kinda rating does it have to have, like can I use one for a motorcycle?

This is where I bought mine from... I'll be buying a new one from here shortly:

http://www.genuineaccessories.com/Closeout/closeout.htm

Just have to get one that meets Snell M2000 requirements.

What size do you need? I might know someone that has TWO SA rated full face helmets... but only needs one. That guy might sell one for an affordable price, too.

I got all of mine from here:

http://www.bellhelmets.com/

Click on the "Closeouts" link. They have several for around $100 that are Snell M2000 rated.

newenough.com in the motorcycle street gear section in closeouts has several helmets for 72-76 bucks. Fast shipping and a great place, I have a Icon and a HJC from them

I got mine on ebay for like $140 shipped. Not the best deal, but it's a real nice helmet. It's a KBC Racer 1 and is DOT and Snell 2000 approved.

My spare helmet is a Bell M2 with the SA2000 cert. The plastic is still on the face shield. Its been tried on a few times but never actually worn or seen sweat. They sell for $300+ new. I'll let this one go for $220.

Or I could sell my Shoei SA95 rated helmet. It has been sweated in but is still very nice for $120. I'm kinda partial to the Shoei because it has a lower "top" and gives best headroom in my vette. The shoei cost me about $350.

Both are large size and fit very snug on my 7 5/8 fitted ball cap wearing head.

I'll only sell one or the other.

snell SA rated: special applications. they are nomex lined and go through a more rigorous testing process. I believe NHRA requires them on any car going 9.99 or faster. prices start at about $250 on these. i don't know what SCCA or other sanctioning bodies require... but it usually depends on the class you run.

for cheap prices on M rated helmets, try www.rockymountainmc.com or www.denniskirk.com and maybe ebay.

I know you can get a snell rated helmet for as low as $50 new, but it's likely open face. full face ones can be had for under $100. but you can spend lots more if you want big $$ brands like shoei or arai.

For how much you wear a helmet in drag racing it doesn't make sense to buy the Shoei or an Arai. Even on a motorcycle after hours of $72 HJC is still comfortable. Venting isn't near as much of an issue and neither is lifting at speed (at least I hope it isn't). Fit is important more then the extra features the more expensive helmets give. IMHO, buy a cheap helmet in the right size.

Snell 2005 > Snell 2000 It needs a Snell 2000 or greater cert, unless it didn't pass Snell 2005 and wasn't Snell approved at all
