Default buying a new vehicle!! What do you guys think???

Well my neighbor has a buddy who is offering me a 1996 GMC Sanoma. Basic as can be. No A/C, roll up windows.......I mean basic. It does have the 4.3L V/6 W/ 61000 miles on it. Its in decent shape. The interior is okay, nothing to do flips about, but okay!! The paint isn't that great either! The bed needs a liner due to the scratches and what not........but for what I need it for (daily comuting and putting stuff aorund) I'm actually interested.

Its also the short bed with just the 2 seats upfront and that's about it.

He offered it to me for $4,000.

That looked like a normal price for that vehicle when I searched for it on the web.

But here is the kicker, I need a little truck daily driver and want to spend no more than $4000-$4500...........does this sound like a good deal? or should I do something else??

This is the best place I can think of when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle!

My friend got a newer one than that about a year and a half ago (4cyl, 5 speed) for like $2500. Also came with a shell. He did get it in San Diego though.

I have purchased several Ford Rangers using them as my daily driver, then detailed them, threw a for sale sign in the window and made a little money on everyone of them.

I was able to pick up Extended cab V-6's with under 100K miles for $ 3,000 to $ 3,700. You have to be patient most have been used as trucks but there are one owner old man pick-ups out there, look for ones with a canopy they usually have had an easier life, and you can sell the canopy on Craigs list.

I just got an 88 Fullsize 3/4 ton RCLB 350 4x4 Chevrolet from the neighbors with 167,000 miles on it for a grand. It didn't run but 500 bucks later including title and registration, It runs like a champ. Even the Power Door looks and Windows work.
