Default Lug nut rule

Does anyone know what kind of rules the NHRA has on lug nuts? I've only raced with stock wheels and no one has ever said anything about them, but now I'm going to be racing the pickup this weekend and don't want to get turned away because of them.

Right now the studs don't extend quite all the way through the nut. It seems (from memory) that there either has to be a min of 1 thread showing, or thread engagement equivalent to the size of the stud (1/2" in my case). But I can't remember.

Thanks
Derek

The threaded portion of the stud MUST extend into the 'Hex' portion of the nut at least a distance equaling the width of the stud.

So a 7/16th stud must engage the threads IN the hex portion of the nut at least 7/16ths os an inch

I hope this helps

Correct. This rule is only in place if you are running slicks. If you are on street tires, it does not apply.
