Default Seattle, WOW

I just wanted to say I went this past weekend to Seattle for a vist and I was impressed with the beauty of the city. Everything is so green and we just fell in love with the city. Its depressing to return to Spokane after this weekend visit. We didnt get to go much out side of the city, as far north as interstate 5 and 405 meet and south as the airport, but the rolling green hills, the bay and the mountains were just gorgeous. when the wife retires in 3 years from the military we are going to be looking to move into that area. Ill be picking your brains for areas to move into. For anyone who has not visited Seattle it is a fun and beautiful place, you need to visit.

You were fortunate to get some nice weather this weekend, and when it's nice outside, Seattle really does kick ***... it's all those other ties when it's raining / overcast that make it tough for a lot of people.

Western Washington is a very beautiful place, but Seattle is just another butt-ugly city with under-maintained, cramped roads and over-priced property. If you move here, you'll want to move somewhere outside of Seattle proper.

we drove up around Bothel, and it was very nice looking, kent sounds nice ( racepark) with it all being new it all looked good. we do have kids so good schools and neighbor hood will be important. we will make several trips in the next coming years and look in more places , kind of get a feel for everything.

i have lived in big cities before, Denver, Norfolk, so congestion due to traffic is to be expected. have to take the good with the bad. keep up the good ideas so we have some new places to visit.

how is marysville, and places north, more expensive, less ????

Cheaper, but if you work in Seattle the commute sucks major ***. Personally I think the best combination of cheaper housing & easy commutes I have found so far is the North Bend / Snoqualmie area. Much cheaper than Seattle, and it's still only 35-40 minutes to Seattle even in rush hour. Not to mention that North Bend is only 30 minutes from Pacific Raceways, and 25 minutes to the Snoqualmie Pass ski areas.

Commuting from Mill Creek and north of there into Seattle... expect it to take 60+ minutes, sometimes longer depending on traffic. I had many a 90 minute commute into Seattle when I lived in Mill Creek.

Yes it is that time of the year when 90% of the people move here. 11 years ago I was one of them

Followed by like 90 some days of rain when the sun left

They just annexed most of the stuff on the other side of Hwy 18 from PR... And I'd say PR is a bit away from what we'd call Kent... think of it as being on a rural route or something...

Last time I checked the map with the latest annexations by all nearby cities, Pacific Raceways was officially unincorporated property with a Kent mailing address. It was bordered by Auburn, Kent, and Covington. Here's a generalized map of Kent from the city's web site:
