Default Car got keyed

Well I went to the shop where my car is at and I found 2 nice key marks from the front fender to the rear quarter panel on both sides. Some of it is down to the metal, the rest can be buffed out. What should I use to buff it out?

usually if its not your fault your deductible is cut in half... sometimes almost nothing.. and it doesnt make your rates go any higher..

the 3M rubbing compound worked so much better than i thought. id say 60% of the key mark was taken out with it and some turtle wax. i applied the duplicolor touch up a few hours ago, i go back tomorrow to put clear coat on and touch up what i need to

If you search around you will find a write up on how to fill the scratch with paint, dry, wetsand exess paint around scratch and than buff. It is much more complicated that I just explained it. It has to be done it stages.

Ha my TA got keyed in the same fashion as yours (Fender, Quarter panel). I haven't tried to fix it just yet.

Surprised no one asked this question... If your car was at a shop how in the hell did it get keyed???? Wouldn't they have to cover it if it happened on the property???

I'd use Federal Hydra Shok, about 230 grain should do it...

Oh, wait! The car! Don't use that to buff the car; the perpetrator definitely, but not the car!

I have to tell you if you had it at a shop its on them to fix it, and fix it now. Don't wait the longer you wait the more likely it is that the claim gets denied. I know you want the car back but better to wait another couple weeks than to be stuck with the scratches forever. This advice comes straight from someone in insurance.

polishing compound and wax, try to use a very fine grit sand paper with water and then buff it out.
