Sail panel issue on 99-02 fbodies
I have created this new thread because there are immature peoe responding to the issue and I am trying to get it resolved. If you have opinions about this matter that is opposite of mine please do not respond or put remarks into my thread! what the issue is that the sail panels on the 99-02 fbodies have bubbling in the paint caused by the glue adhesive. When in the heat the glue turns into a gas and seeps through the panel causing the bubbling and sometimes oozing an oily substance out of the panel. GM knew about back in 2003 with a service bullentin and issues started happening ultimately after it. the service bulletin is not available to the public. what I am trying to do is get enough people to join me to put enough complaints on the autosafety.org website and yes they do take other complaints not just safety. Gm told me on the phone in the last week that if autosafety gets enough complaints there would be an investigation. also I am in the process of contacting BBB and I am going to see if they do joint complaints together. if you would like to do something like this private message me on this website. please do not delete this thread !

I'm in.....actually in the process of locating a wrecked 93-97 to cut the panel off of. My 99 (owned 3 months) has been doing it for years according to the previous owner. I've almost completely given up, but if they'll do something about it I'll be glad to join.
Popped a couple the other day wiping it down with quick detailer, it's pretty nasty underneath. I'll be glad to mail the old one back to them in pieces if I fix it first.

removed mine 2 wks ago after it was repainted twice.
Ive saved both pieces(broke on removal) and can show
pics of what it looks like on back side.
I have a replacement painted and ready to go.
I sure wish theres some recourse as mines an 02 but I wouldnt
get my hopes up.

I just saw a picture somewhere that showed the structure under the panel. Basically all cars are T-Top cars. The hard tops just have a larger panel glued onto the top. In the picture the guy took, it shows the center and rear bar where you can see the glue residue.
It is quite hideous, when it gets nice and hot mine bubbles up and looks like a zig zag pattern across the back and middle of the roof. If you somehow still get it covered as a defect and they replace it, I am definitely IN!
