Default Making "nostrils" larger on stock Firebird hood?

I came up with this idea because I'm tired of looking for different hoods for Firebirds. Everyone and their mother has a WS6 hood, Firehawk hoods look great but I don't like the look of the heat extractors. Raptor hoods don't look quite right, IMO. Superhawk hoods look awesome, but good luck finding one.

I'm thinking about opening up the "nostrils" on the stock Firebird hood. Basically, it would look more like a Firehawk hood, but without the heat extractors.

I would do this with a fiberglass hood. Anyone think it would look stupid?

if you can do a VERY clean/nicely shaped/symmetrical job, i think it could look good.

A) where the hell you going to find a fiberglass "sleek beak"?

B) why would you want fiberglass when you have steel. so much easier to work with.

but i think its an awesome idea! grab the cut-off wheel!

I would be getting this done at a body shop. While I trust myself to do the cutting, I don't have the knowledge or the tools to work with fiberglass.

your hood is steel. not fiberglass.

VFN has one listed on their website. I'm going with fiberglass for weight reduction.

I think it looks waY too much like a firehawk hood..depending on how much this is gonna cost u plus the money to buy the hood... Wouldn't it be cheaper to buy the firehawk hood and just sand the extractors and cover them? Idk.. Personally I don't like it.. I think it looks like a wannabe firehawk hood/mod.. But it's ur car.. If u like it then go for it...

There is also a carbon fiber sleek hood made by VIS. They also have a custom sleek style hood with vents going up the sides...pretty sure it's a new design.

Beware of fitment issues with fiberglass. I had a VFN WS6 hood on my T/A and could not get it to fit properly.

I checked out the vented hood you talked about. It looks awesome - it's got Viper-style heat extractors and the center section appears to be raised slightly. The only problem is it costs $1100. If it wasn't so expensive I'd probably get it.

lots of work/money for something 9/10 people won't notice

it's still a too flat looking boring hood in the end...sure it's better than stock but that's not saying much...
