Default Taking my TA back to paint

I am going to be taking my TA back to "one day paint" in a couple days for a repaint; due to their bad paint job. They had a few runs in the paint, the hood fish eyed really bad and some parts were not the same white. I was wondering if I should wash the car down with something and then take it to the paint shop; I did all of the prep sanding for them. What if anything should I wash the car with before I take it in?

No offence but it sounds like a sketch place being named "one day paint". How many coats did they do? Did you provide the paint or was it a house brand they used?

It is like a maaco paint shop. But I did all of the prep work and prepared everything really well, I'm just not sure what I should clean the car off with before I take it in. I had my Z28 painted there a few years ago and it looked great when I sold it in September. Everyone who came to looked at the Z28 commentated on the paint; everyone was shocked when I said it was a "One Day Paint" paint job. They are using Sherwin Williams paint, I think they failed mix enough paint to paint the entire car including the side skirts, wing, and mirrors; that's why the side skirts, wing and mirrors were not the exact color white. I will post pic's when it is done; If I don't have to have them do it again. It will be going in today.

typically right before your ready to paint, anything, before you put it in the booth youd wipe it down with wax and grease remover, typically i wipe down with WURTH glass cleaner one thats water based, then when its cleaned with that i use a wax and grease remover like DX330

O.K I just dropped it off, that is what they said they are going to do; I hope they do it correctly this time.

A car needs to be wiped down mulitple times throughout the repair process. My helpers wipe the repair area down with RM900 before they sand anything, it keeps you from sanding contaminets into the paint. They wipe it again before primer. I wipe it in the booth w/ a spray bottle w/ RM909, a water based cleaner, and a clean wypall followed by one more wipedown with RM901 which dries very fast for a final wipe before the tack rag.

All of this is a pain in the *** but I have not had any fisheyes in 20 years.

The problem I see is if they screw it up again you will have so much paint on the car that you need to strip it to metal and start over.

You must be on a really tight budget. U ever hear the saying "Burn me once, shame on you, Burn me twice, shame on me!" Good luck and I hope it turns out like you want it to

No I just had a great paint job done by them a couple of years ago and have noticed a lot of good paint jobs they have done in the last few years. I was just the unlucky one this time. But one manager did try to screw me, until the head guy came out and said, "no we need to fix this". The lower manager just turned around and walked back to the office with his head down. I am sure he will get it done correctly sooner or later.

Here is my old z28, this is a 4 year old paint job I don't have any close up shotshttp://www.madtuner.com/components/c...res/henryw.jpg. I hated that hood.
I went to get my TA today, but it is not done yet; I did see it and it looks a lot better now even under the florescent lighting. I will be picking the TA up tomorrow and I will post pics on Friday after I get it all back together. The paint job was 500 for the z28 and 600 for the TA.

Here is the link to the pics of the TA. I have to install the windshield wipers, fog lights, front and rear marker lights, and my decals. http://img404.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=p1010893q.jpg And remove the paint from the door rubbers.

Yes they did a lot better the second time around; the car was originally arctic white. I am really happy with it now, I did do all the prep work myself. Only bad part is they did not mask it off well so I had some over spray on the t-tops and rubbers, but I cleaned that off. I need to repaint the calipers and the inner fender walls, then put a good wax on it as soon as this rain stops. I am also going to get the windows tinted. I will post pics when everything is done; maybe three weeks from now. For $600 you almost can't beat the results.
