Arrow Manifold painting/prep/options - Gold Heat Wrap?

I know that painting LS intake manifolds have kind of been covered and I've searched around and know I'm obviously going need to sand/prep the manifold.

But I actually want to wrap my manifold in gold heat wrap, I want to know if anyone has done this with an LS manifold and if they had any issues/problems with the backing/sticking etc

I know some wont care for the look, but I'm function > form and I've seen some decent numbers to back up wrapping intakes/manifolds from reflecting heat and keeping intake temps down. And on the track thats my main concern. So don't really care if it's "ugly"

Kind of what I mean. (Obviously I know the ls mani has a lot more contours)

Did you even read, Function > Form

This is common in almost every Lamborghini engine bay with the gold lining.

That would be stupid, I would rather not have the gold look, but I want the functionality hence what I posted....

Gold is one of the best reflectors of heat and is great for keeping temperatures down where you need to keep things cool. Most of these wraps are able to reflect 80% of the heat.

You obviously didn't read because even in the Original Post I said I don't care if it's "ugly". I don't care that you think it's ugly, not to mention there are tons of ugly/fast cars, some on here...

The point is why in the world would I want to paint it gold, the point is not to have the color or gold apperence it's to have the functionality of better cooling. I don't care if it's pink, it's not a show car, it never will be. The point is to reduce intake temps for times when I'm on the track for a awhile specially in an endurance race.

Please next time, read, read again, think then post.

If anyone has done it I would love to see pics and get any info before I start doing mine.

Will do man, I guess I'll be the first to do it with an LSx manifold?

so I guess I'll take lots of pics and try and get intake temps to compare.

I did read it, I'm trying to talk you out of it. If you want cool air, take the hood off.

people worried about looks over performance will never go as fast as those who could care less what their cars look like.. i say do it.. see if you cant get some before and after temperatures. I will contribute to both sides on keeping things cool however... taking the hood off is just stupid.. running a meth injection to reduce IAT's would be a viable option of your race class allows it.

I already know just by looking at it I know it's not going to look pretty lol.

And I doubt a heat gun will help it fit the contours since it will be reflecting most of the heat, but I guess I will find out lol

Maybe use the strips instead of a large sheet ? idk.

Kinda wish someone had already done it lol

Heres a cool video of some tested

yeah it deff works, I'm already going to be using it to keep heat off and away from fuel lines etc, but the uses are endless really.

Dude he's said it multiple times he doesn't care and wants functionality. Too each their own. I personally find it really dumb to dress up under the hood a bunch. I don't go propping my hood up for people to ooo and ah over, I'd rather them see the outside (or interior) being all nice than under the hood and aim for functionality, but once again that goes back to each their own some people obviously like dressing up under the hood to show off. For me, thats one area I could care less if it was completely ugly as hell as no one is really going to see besides maintenance.

Back on topic. This stuff is awesome! Where do you even buy it? Definitely post up pictures of this project, and any temp readings too if you can.

Function question here, wouldnt that just trap the heat inside the intake kinda like what the metal intakes are infamous for?

It shouldn't because it wouldn't allow the heat from the engine bay to heat up the intake/manifold and then heat up the cold air coming from the outside. As far as heat soak when the car is stable I'm not sure, I haven't seen enough data to show it helping or hurting.

Ideally I'll be wrapping my headers in heat wrap, to keep the engine temps down in general.
