Clean it with acetone . I like the hammertone paint from Lowes hardware . Finish has a nice look to it IMO .

I've heard to clean it with a sock to get behind everything.

Do you need to prime it before paint?
If so what primer to use.
Is the hammertone paint a spray or roll on?
Thanks

I always use a self etching primer on my cages first, then paint

Id use high build personally and then sand er down and go on. But if you plan on using like just rattlecan which for a cage why not. Just normal can primer and rustoleum should work.

that's what I used to paint mine, mostly because all of my chassis/suspension is BMR hammertone. It turned out well.
