Default Not a good evening

Driving down the highway after work. I was going probably about 75 on a 70 mph road. Next thing I know some person in a golden Camry just straight up cuts me off. As if that wasn't bad enough, he was probably doing 55-60 mph.

In my efforts to avoid the accident I hit the brakes and quickly veer into the next lane. This abrupt change basically slingshots the rear end around and I end up hitting the wall on the side of the interstate.

I wouldn't be so upset if it was just the bumper and the panel that contains the "CAMARO" lettering, but the quarter panel is damaged too. Can anyone please tell me if the quarter panel is repairable without cutting and replacing.

Ouch. I too found out the hard way that these cars don't like hard braking + quick turns of the wheel.

yea, thats exactly what happend. It just makes you feel twice as bad when you know the repair cost will be coming out of pocket, cause you don't want to file a claim.

Can't tell if the QP is bent/wrinkled from the pictures, but it looks like that would be perfectly fixable. You'll need to blend in the new bumper anyways, so there shouldn't be more painting involved compared to a straight up bumper swap. A bit more prep-work on the QP though.

I don't think the tires really had anything to do with it. For cheap tires they have excellent traction. Nor are the improperly inflated. Just my gut reaction was obviously to avoid a collision. It comes down to inertia when you're trying to move 3000+ pounds a different direction in fraction of a second.

I apologize for the bad pictures, but the QP is bent right above the bumper. Seems like the whole QP got pushed a bit, because it is hitting the trunk lid a tad on the top.

Should of let them hit you. Probably wouldn't of been as bad (you know, as oppose to slamming on the breaks at high speed). And at least you could have gotten his insurance (hopefully) to pay for it. I've also learned (without horrible consequences) it's not worth slamming on our brakes and trying to swerve out of the way), and having no one else to file a claim against.

That looks like an easy job for the body shop to fix. No it seems that the quarter is fixable with out cutting or replacing. Good luck! Where in Florida do you live?

sould be fixable might have to pull it a bit to get the gap back between the qp and trunk, but should still fix
