Both tuning suites are great products.

I use EFILive.

I chose to invest in the RoadRunner interface and found the combination worked for me.

There is a substantial learning curve regardless of the tuning software you choose. They each have forum boards which at times can get a little 'quiet', but search always brings you most answers.

I am 9 months into self-taught tuning (my vehicle) and would say I have 90-95% of it down.

Hope that helps.

Good luck.

Basically, HPT is supposed to be a little more user friendly and EFILive is supposed to be a bit more technical. At the end of the day, either tool will do 95% of what you need to do. This topic has been THRASHED 1,000,000,000 times here, I'd suggest a good search.

IMO
EFILive has a better licensing structure.
EFILive is very user friendly and has many features:
BBL, BBF (soon) serial WBO2 support, scripts, DVT.

For GM vehicles EFILive is the best,
especially when paired with the Moates RoadRunner.

You'll find varying opinions on each, as each is vastly different from licensing, initial pricing, real time tuning options, vehicle support, etc.

If you specific questions or concerns about the capabilities of our software feel free to ask here or by contacting me directly at bill at hptuners.com and I'll get you the answers.

Thanks,
Bill

Both are damn good,

and un-believably sophisticated in their abilities.

It's the "sloppy link" that uses the software that makes the difference.

The EFI LIVE hardware is far more capable with its handheld unit with provision for serial interface, thermocouples, analogue 5v sensors, 12v switches, Black Box Logging with 2GB SD card support as well as internal memory and display of parameters on the device and soon Black Box Flashing.

On the Software side of things the HPT interface is a bit more basic to use when you first start out but both are similar enough. The scanner is not as powerful as the EFI LIVE one though. The Custom OS's from EFI LIVE are free too whereas you pay for the HPT ones.

No doubt. EFILive also offers the serial widband connection option.

Browse each website for pricing. Either way the initial cost is expensive, but will pay for itself over time as you learn to use it.

If you have a 98 and need a 2 bar OS, you have to get HP tuners or you have to install a later year ECU
