Default random misfire code wtf? P0300

I had my car to the dealer today because of I've been setting random misfire codes. 150 misfires in #5 cyl. and 147 misfires in #8 cyl. They told me that my plugs and wires are fine and they don't have a clue how to fix it until someone from GM discusses it with them. Do you think that there is a problem with the coil packs. Any suggestions please.

in your sig you dont state a cam, but if you have a big cam that'll set off the p0300 random misfire.

Mine showed random misfires as well when it was stock. It never threw any SES lights nor could I feel any missed. I had the random misfires removed from my tuning.

I don't want to remove the random misfires from my tuning because my car is running like **** right now. You can definately hear when it is misfiring and also feel it. It is breaking up at 4700-5800 at wot in 3rd and 4th gear.

Well I went and changed my plugs to NGK tr55's and put on Taylor Thundervolt 10.4 wires and got rid of my random misfire code P0300 but now I am setting P0308 so does this mean that I only have a problem with #8 cylinder. My car is still breaking up at wot above 4700rpm in 3rd and 4th gear. I am going to swap the coil packs around to see if anything changes. Is there anything else I should do or look for. I don't think that I have a bent pushrod because the motor sounds quiet to me.

Had the same problems exactly the same problems. Found out it was bent PR and weak VS. A set of LS6 VS cured all my issues

Everything sounded normal. When I pulled the PR i found two bent more than 1/4". The VS issue the car would fall on its nose around 4.7-6k and was progressivley getting worse.

Keep watching your avatar, you will eventually get the hang of it. Hey Tileman, think you might be able to hold a class and teach him where the gears are so this doesn't happen again???

Just a little update. I went ahead and changed all the pushrods that a buddy gave me but mine were fine by the way. I also put the drivers side coil packs on the passenger side and the passenger side on the drivers side. I also took a complete fuel rail with injectors from my buddies car (same year) and put it on my car. Still no fix to my problem. It is still breaking up above 4700 rpm in 3rd and 4th gear at wot and it is only setting PO300 (random misfire). I'm stumped. Help.

#5 cy and #8 cy doesn't sound random. That's pretty specific. Since the substitution method doesn't seem to be working you should try a compression and a leak down. Do you have EFI Live or did the GM dealer use a Tech 2 to get the DTC?
